Since 2020 Charfield Village Hall and Playing Fields have operated as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) taking over from the previous charity which had operated since 1965. CIO's, a relatively new type of organisation, are the chairty sectors equivalent of a limited company, and their administration is vested in a board of Trustees.
As stated in our charities constitution "The object of the CIO shall be the provision and maintaince of a Village Hall and Playing Field for the use of the enhabitants of the parish of Charfield without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions, and in particular for use for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time ocupation, with the oject of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants."

Members
Membership of the CIO is open but not limited to anyone who is over 16 years of age and living in
the Parish of Charfield who is interested in furthering its (the CIO’s) purposes, and who, by
applying for membership, has indicated their agreement to become a member and acceptance of
the duty of members.
Effectively the members role is to hold the Trustees to account for how they run the charity.
Members have powers to overturn Trustee decisions, and remove trustees if needed. Members
(not Trustees) have no day to day involvement in the running of the hall, they should receive
general updates from the Trustees and attend the AGM of the charity.
