Mud/Debris on Charfield

Wotton Road resembles a farm-track this afternoon. Obviously there's going to be some muck and mess from the building works, but is there an agreement with the contactors to ensure it's cleaned up? Aside from being unsightly, it's slippery and hazardous for cyclists/motorcyclists using this busy road. Looks like there's a lot more digging/levelling to be done yet over the winter months - hope this isn't a sign of what's to come, yuck!

Title should read "Mud/Debris on Wotton Road, Charfield" - can't seem to edit it!

Hi oxo. I've taken this up both with ward member John O'Neill and directly with Crest Nicholson. Wheel washing was a condition set in the outline permission, and I've had an initial response back from Crest Nicholson promising that this omission will be addressed. Keep telling us if you see problems; that's how they (hopefully) get fixed. ;-)

Is it definitely the builders? Wotton Road has been strewn with mud and muck many times over the years and it's always (previously at least) been the farmers. I called the council once as I had just cleaned my car and was furious as it lasted 2 minutes. To my amazement, by the next morning the road had been cleaned! I suggest that the more people who report it, the more likely the council will be to reinforce a better regime on the culprits.

For sure it's not only Crest Nicholson, and that was made clear when I spoke with the Council. Our farmers too have a responsibility to ensure their operations do not create nuisance, and indeed I believe have a legal responsibility to clear mud they drop on the highway.

Further to my last post, I made a point of checking and can confirm that whilst there was a degree of marking in Wotton Road that was clearly emanating from the Crest Nicholson site, the far worse mud and muck was emanating from Station Road which is down to farmers who access the fields through the gate by the railway under bridge.
