BT Race to Infinity... vote now.

I don't know how useful these vote thingies are, but BT are proposing to upgrade the broadband connectivity across Britain, and are taking votes to sdelect the next areas for 'super-fast' fibre.

Can't do any harm, I guess. Vote now!

I'll be voting later! Can we get CHADRA and/or the Parish Council involved to advertise this around the village?

Would it be worth contacting our MP to potentially unite all the communities on the Falfield exchange?

Another ray of light on the horizon could be looking into the services provided by Rutland Telecom, google them and you'll see what they have achieved for other community notspots!

Liz, I put it on the Parish web site as soon as I had posted here. :)

I think the CHADRA deadline is 4th October - just enough time. I'll email Isabel. Good call.

Hi all,

When I put in my postcode it came up with Falfield Exchange - is that right? On my mum's phone bill we come up as Rangeworthy so I was expecting that!

I voted anyway - vote number 14. Not quite 1% yet! I have forwarded the link on though.

You beat me to it as I was vote No. 2! Anyway, like you say, it can't do any harm to vote, but we need 1,400 or so before doing any good & even then there is no guarantee. Still, if we don't vote, then we will certainly not get anything faster tham the 2mb we get at the moment - Happy voting!!

I've just voted, number 19, but what intrigued me was that sbomford can get 2mb currently. Surely he can't live in Charfield!! Give me 2mb and I'd be content. 0.7mb is of no use to anyone.

And I'm number 20! Whew. It's going to take a while.

I've put something on the home page of this site, and on my facebook page.

Hope that helps, and thanks for spotting that Mark.

I see Bradley Stoke are on the BBC news website (in the Bristol section) saying that they are publicising this.

We only get 0.5mb - 2mb would be fab! I guess we all turn up at sbomford's house then!! Could rent out your lounge for people trying to work from home!

I've just voted and I'm no26!! long way to go I think. Will the two different exchanges in the village affect this?. . I'm quite happy with my broadband at the moment but I'm a silver surfer my children spend all their time complaining its too slow when they are using it at my house!!

Currently 3.30% - 48 votes have been cast out of a total of 1,453.

Getting there!

Hi jgbeaker,

Have had the BT iplate for several months, but thanks for the suggestion. Have just changed ISP from Zen to BT and therefore a brand new modem/hub, and have moved hub to alongside the main BT socket, which is recommended. Still 0.7mbs.

Not helped by "management" now working-from-home and hence two computers online.

Just to close off this thread, the results for the variably received Race to Infinity are available here:

and you can see we made 165th place in Falfield, with 162 votes out of a connected number of 1453 lines. Wotton came 303rd with 288 out of 3634.

Well done to those who voted, despite any misgivings.
