Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I are bat ecologists i.e. we study the habits and behaviour of bats. If anyone has (or think they have) a roost in their house, please send me a message and we'll come and have a look for you (no charges or anything, most of what we do is voluntary!). I also have a captive bat (an education bat) who, as part of my licence I have to keep him, must attend events so if anyone is running an event (WI, scouting, guiding, schools) and would like a visit, please message back. I'm also thinking of organising a walk in the village over the summer months to entertain the kids on summer hols (and the enduring parents).

For anyone still reading this who is interested, we put a bat detector pointing out of our bedroom window last night (Near Steve's Shop, fromting the road) and recorded six different species of bat! This included one species which we rarely come accross, especially within a village environment.

For those who a re REALLY interested and still reading, I'm also Chair of the Avon Bat Group and we run all sorts of batty events so google the group and check out what we do.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me!

Apologies for going on a bit but there's a lot to say!

I take it you've had a listen up by the old church? Lots of bats up there; tend to zip close over our heads as we walk around the village! In fact, it would be interesting to know what is flying about up there in terms of the environmental action plan for the new burial ground... the conditions on the planning permission only require we investigate slow-worms and hedgehogs, but our intent is to protect and enhance all the biodiversity of the site, so it would be useful to have some data.

Having a read now of your web site [external link]

Do you have a BATmobile? (sorry)

I am sure the school would be interested in a visit from you and Robin (I presume?) and I expect there would be a lot of interest in a bat walk around the village, should you be so inclinded.

Meant to put my message on here instead of a new post!

We have bats flying in our garden but not roosting, so if you fancy having a look you are very welcome, Sam
