... and here's the sound of the Big Sing from February 2012:

110 voices, 85 Charfield villagers supported by 25 from Thornbury Choral Society, singing the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.

All ages (9 years upwards) and from complete novices to experienced singers came to two sessions of 90 minutes (not counting the tea break!). The first session covered basic singing technique, and the second session was a Hallelujah Chorus rehearsal with sing through at the end. The result is truly impressive – in particular the spine-tingling crescendo to the final Hallelujah – Bliss!

"such an inspirational and enjoyable event" Sue S.

"Really did enjoy this morning - didn't we do well!" Nicky M.

"just wanted to say that The Big Sing was marvellous!" Trish D.

"Both my husband and I, and everyone who attended that I spoke to, had a great time on Saturday. We thought that Dr King was fantastic, striking a perfect balance between encouraging novices and reminders for more experienced souls and making it great fun into the bargain" Sarah E.

"I enjoyed every minute of the big sing, and met some lovely people." Ken P.

"...such a wonderful community event. I was very surprised by the huge turnout to support it and the talent we have in our village. Dr Kings and the pianist [Dr James Corbett] were outstanding. I was very moved at the end of the session when everyone cheered and felt sad it was at an end. It was nice to do something for myself and I thoroughly enjoyed both sessions." Betty M.

"It was a great experience. I found my voice for the very first time (and it wasn't too bad)." Yvette A.

"Great experience, I'd forgotten what it was like to participate in a large choir. Wonderful sound, be good to hear it improve." Dave C.

"The sound of the collective voices was fab and singing with friends and neighbours." The family B.

"Dr Steven Kings' teaching was inspiring, also found the atmosphere/camaraderie of the choir fun." Richard P.

"..the sound of us all together made my hairs on the back of my neck tingle" Sue S.
