    HSBC Road to Wimbledon National

The HSBC Road to Wimbledon National 14 & Under Challenge 2009

Henry Jones, winner of the Joint Club Event in April along with runner-up Chris Tague represented our clubs at the County Finals at the beginning of July and did themselves and us proud. WELL DONE HENRY & CHRIS!!

    Family Tournaments

The Primary & Secondary Tournament Finals were held at the Fete and saw some great matches. Primary winners were Rita Wadsworth & Henry Jones and the Secondary Winners were Nigel & Tom Watkins. Well done to those winners and to all who took part. Thanks to Sandra Nute & Julie Macnamara for such brilliant organisation.

    Club Open Tournament

A popular tournament which was held at the Fete saw a thrilling Final between eventual winners Tom Watkins & Henry Jones and very worthy opponents Jon Rosser & Kieran Austin. What talent our village has!

    Men's Doubles Tournament

A great tournament held on 19th July which saw some amazing matches in really bad weather conditions. A hard hitting and spectacular 3 set final saw Tony Field & Kevin Brett narrowly beat Nigel Cloke & John Scally. It was well worth braving the wind and rain to watch Charfield's finest (!) compete in this tournament. Thanks to Chris Riley for organising, playing & umpiring and to all who ball person-ed and line called.

French Villa - with a Swimming Pool and Tennis Court!

We have recently installed a tennis court and are keen to get the word out to tennis enthusiasts as we believe it offers an almost unique experience for those with a love of tennis, swimming (we also have a private pool on site) and all that goes with this area of France - fine dining and excellent bordeaux wines.

We are willing to donate £50 to the club, if any of your members book a holiday with us.

The villa sleeps up to 10 people (plus baby), is situated in the south west of France , 1 hour from Bordeaux , 20 minutes from Bergerac airport (flights from Bristol and Southampton). A couple of minutes drive from Ste Foy la Grande, which offers good village shopping, several restaurants, a famous Saturday farmers' market and a choice of supermarkets, this is a spacious and very attractive modern house set in one acre of peaceful secluded grounds with pool and tennis court. A tastefully furnished new kitchen, large rustic dining area and separate lounge with all amenities (SKY TV, DVD and video). There are two double and two twin bedrooms (cot and sofa bed are also available). The dining area is comfortably furnished to seat 10 with views of the pool and garden and leads out onto the outdoor patio with a built-in barbeque.

Please follow this link for more details, and don't forget to quote Charfield Tennis Club when booking so that the club receives the donation.
